  • Ovulation: Ovulation is the process in which a mature egg is released from the ovary. After its release, the egg moves down the fallopian tube and stays there for 12 to 24 hours, waiting to be fertilized. Ovulation typically occurs around day 14 of the menstrual cycle.
  • Conception: Conception occurs when sperm fertilizes an egg, also known as fertilization. It happens in the hours or days after unprotected sex and is closely related to a person's menstrual cycle. After fertilization, the fertilized egg implants into the uterus, marking the beginning of a pregnancy. Conception usually occurs between 12 and 24 hours after ovulation.
